Das Racist Play Sloppy Drunken Set at After the Jump Fest

 
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News For three years, After the Jump Fest has showcased the best indie bands you might not have heard of. This year's three-day run, which started last Friday, boasted 23 acts culled by ATJ's crew, notably blog stars Ninjasonik and novelty rap duo Das Racist , of 'Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell' fame. Friday kicked things off at Park Slope's Littlefield space with a smattering of dream pop and tropical sounds carried off by Miami's Holiday Shores and bouncy Brooklynites, My Teenage Stride. Saturday ushered in a bawdier feel, thanks to Philly rockers Free Energy and frontman Paul Spranger's uncanny Jagger swagger. The girls bopped their heads to '70s-style road warriors like 'Dream City,' while catchy choruses ("bang bang pop pop," for example) had the boys shouting along from the bottom of their beer-filled guts.
